 | Summer Fishing Wraps Up in Saskatchewan |
Fishing around Regina this past summer would have to be rated as super. This has been one of the coolest and rainy summers in recent history but overall walleye fishing has been steady in the QuAppelle lakes and really quite good in last mountain. The Walleye tournament over the Labor Day Weekend at Fort Quappelle saw a walleye bite not unlike the spring with anglers jigging with an open bail and at the slightest pick up letting the line go for up to ten seconds before trying to set the hook. From all reports the Last Mountain walleye Classic at Rowans Ravine was a great success with a solid bite the entire weekend. In the next few weeks a lot of fishermen hang it up and a lot really look forward to great fishing. There is no doubt that the fall bite can be very agressive.
Now that the tournaments are over for this part of the Province there will be a lot more freedom of information as to where the hot spots are. Its amazing how many really good walleye anglers don't seem to catch a lot of fish in the regular hot spots until the tournaments, seems like a lot of cloak and daggers work.
