 | Ice Fishing Update |
Wow, just when we thought ice fishing in southern Saskatchewan would never turn on customers are starting to tell success stories. Most of the winter pike fishing has been fairly consistent. Pike from three to ten pounds are fairly common with just enough fifteen to twenty pounders to make life interesting. It seems like the inability to mover around the QuAppelle and Last Mountain lakes is the biggest inhibitor to better catches. Walleye are still Walleye slow catching in the winter. First ice this winter did not bring great success and now were all waiting for March fishing to turn on. The greatest boon to ice fishing is the Aqua Vu underwater cameras. Next time your perch fishing and the perch come to your bait but will not bite try tapping your rod tip once, just lightly. One of our customers said that if he jigged the lure the fish scattered but if he lightly tapped the rod they grabbed the bait. Now here is the rub they mouthed the bait so lightly that his micro light rod did not move but he saw the action on the camera and made the catch. Sorry fish that’s technology or life on the top of the food chain. Wayne Tumack , Pres of Bite Me Jigs has come out with a supper variety of T Tot type jigs, there hot.
